'She needs to THINK AGAIN' Theresa May slaps down Lib Dem MP over anti-Brexit tirade

The Prime Minister told Layla Moran to “think again” after she claimed industries in her constituency were “set to shrink” as a result of the EU divorce.

She then called for a second referendum on EU membership before being berated by the Tory leader.

Ms Moran said: “Mr Speaker, Oxford West and Abingdon has a vibrant local economy but is reliant on the university, science and car industries.

“It is set to shrink if we leave the single market and the customs union, risking thousands of local jobs.”

The chamber erupted with jeers as she continued: “Isn’t it time the Prime Minister was frank with people about the dangers of leaving and allowed them a say when we finally know the full facts?”

Mrs May then scolded the politician and suggested she did not have the “right view” of what would happen in the UK after .

She replied: “I have to say to the honourable lady that her view of what is going to happen when we leave the European Union is not the right one.

“And if she is telling her constituents that then she needs to think again.

“She needs to work with the Government to ensure we get the deal as we leave the European Union that gives us access to the single market, that enables us not just to have that access but to do trade deals around the world and bring prosperity and jobs to the UK.”

The exchange comes after Jean-Claude Juncker has lashed out at the UK’s decision to leave the European Union as he addressed MEPs on Wednesday morning, insisting Britain would “regret” Brexit.

He said: “March 29 2019 – that will be the day when the United Kingdom will leave the EU.

“This will be a very sad and tragic moment in our history we will always regret this and I think that you will regret it as well soon if I might say.”
