Star Wars 8 news: George Lucas’ influence on The Last Jedi REVEALED

Back in 2012 the legendary filmmaker sold the rights to for $4.05 billion (£2.5 billion) to Disney.

Since then Lucas hasn’t had creative input in the sequel trilogy (Episodes VII-IX) or the spin-off movies like Rogue One and Young Han Solo.

However the 73-year-old billionaire does still have a say on some matters.

Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm President Kennedy spoke about his influence on The Last Jedi and other Star Wars movies today.

She said: “He’ll whisper in my ear every now and then.

“Usually, it’s something specific or important to him about Jedi training. Things like that.”

Kennedy also revealed how Lucas is adjusting to life as a Star Wars fan, having also worked on The Clone Wars animated series.

She continued: “I think he’s starting to settle into this and just be a fan. It’s taken a while. It’s hard to let go, after 40 years.”

Kennedy added: “That’s a lot of expectation and things he thought a lot about. “Suddenly that next generation, that whole thematic idea he came up with, is in [the] process.”

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi will be released in UK cinemas on December 14, 2017.
